I consider myself a creative, ambitious and passionate person. I am driven by creativity and problem solving. Currently, I am enrolled in the Ms. Integrated Marketing Communications program at Northwestern University.
Before moving from New Delhi to Chicago for grad school, I worked 4 years in varying marketing strategy roles, spanning brand strategy, digital and social media, events and non-profit marketing. I believe that my diversity of work experience comes from my drive to try new things and pursuit to learn more. I believe in saying YES to things I’ve never done before - I’m easily excited by new possibilities and I love a meaty challenge. My passion lies in unlocking consumer insights and using them creatively to solve business challenges. I’m currently looking for a chance to do this full time. I also love to cook, write about desserts on my blog, experiment with photography and do crosswords. And I love animals!
5 THINGS ABOUT ME
(in somewhat of a sequence)
1. I grew up in India in the 90’s - in such a very diverse culture and interesting time, I found myself more fascinated by human beings than by science or math.
2. As a child, I made creative cards for my parents in pursuit of longer computer time. When I started working, I realized that those cards were basically a pitch, not all that different from pitches I now made for clients. (Except with more crayon!)
3. I am the ideal consumer: I am intrigued by exciting packaging, I love trying new products, I definitely open an above average number of emails from brands, and it doesn’t take a lot to persuade me to click on promotions. You could call it irrationality, you could call it curiosity.
4. I am obsessed with food and dogs: I write a dessert blog, which became popular for a while, but I will admit that my dogs are the real stars of my blog (and I can see why). In the hierarchy of content, fluffy wagging tails beat fluffy whipped frosting, always.
5. I have always liked jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, writing journals (a by-product of being an introvert) and I feel the same pattern of emotions when I’m trying to mine insights. The ‘Aha moment’, for me, isn’t the moment when I’ve found the answer. It’s the moment where something so interesting has been uncovered that makes it impossible to stop.
In the future, I want to be an expert in understanding human beings and their behavior. Marketing is one application of that skill, but imagine what great things we could do by learning to influence human behavior.
